Dahl for two
The promised recipe for cold evenings and to warm up.. in the end I decided on an inspiration that is simple and I actually make it much more often than soups… if you are like me a fan of India, this simple dish will definitely please you and maybe after trying it, it will make the rest of you want to explore more… I wish you a good appetite… Luna
250 g red lentils/yellow peas…let's cook... because I try to cook efficiently, I prefer to make dahl from red lentils, it's much faster and so the food is ready in a flash :).
Put rapeseed oil in a pan and add a spoonful of cumin.. fry and add one large (or two small) onion cut into strips.. fry for about 15 minutes until browned...
Cut 6 cloves of garlic into small pieces...add half to the finished onion and lightly fry...Stir the finished onion mixture into the cooked lentils or peas and mix...add all the spices and it's done!
spices: salt, chili (powder or flakes), 1 teaspoon garam masala, half a teaspoon turmeric
I like to pour prepared Tarka over the finished Dahl... I make it at the same time as the onion
Tarka recipe: in a small pan, add rapeseed oil, two teaspoons of mustard seeds..wait until they start popping add a chopped red chili pepper (or two) and the rest of the chopped garlic..stir lightly and remove as soon as the garlic starts to brown and you're done!
